A person who laced treats with sleeping medication and provided them to children at a summer camp in the area has admitted sexual crimes against two boys both between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight minors and a grown-up experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in July.
The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
Yet, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was concerning a young boy.
The accused was kept in jail ahead of a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, handling the case, outlined the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She explained his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer program which he operated.
Ruben played a "treat game" with the minors, the legal counsel explained, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and ask them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She told the court the defendant had played this game with the young males "for many years", and children had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She explained Ruben had been able to explain this repeatedly as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had concerns in recently.
The prosecutor continued: "In the summer" his stepchild had worries about the situation, for good reason.
"They decided to investigate in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel stated items including infant oil, ointment and medical needles were located, and his stepchild notified the police about his suspicions.
She stated Ruben went on to engage in the "sweet game" with six boys that time - that Saturday - and they were all sick the next day.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that time," she added.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was examining the police response of the incident.
The legal representative explained the minors were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so the stepson called the police once more.
She stated the man then engaged in the "treat game" in a space of five youngsters.
